Yellow Tail Big Bold Red
A wonderful Wine
This wine will not be some amazing work of art and nor will it be talked about as the best wine of all time. However, I must say it is one of the best wines Yellowtail wineries make. I have tried many Yellowtail wines and have always said the same thing. It is just not good enough and that their advertising is the only reason people buy it.
However, I was proven wrong today by Big Bold Red. The flavors are raspberry and strawberry jam. It does have a nice hint of spice, but not over powering. It is a very sweet red wine that is enjoyable. Yet it does have hints of dark chocolate. The mixture is absolutely wonderful and will allow ones taste buds to be awaken by how enjoyable it is.
It is only $6 and honestly should go for around $9 to $10 because of its craftsmanship. Since the holidays are coming up I especially think this wine is an absolute must buy. You can enjoy it for dinner, desert, or just for entertaining guests. Especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas with turkey, roast beef, and even pumpkin or sweet potato pies.
Buy this wine while you still can and before store owners get an idea of the product they have. I am not a fan of Yellowtail, but I am a fan of this bottle, which gives me hope for the winery.
Stay enthusiastic

CHOOSE APOTHIC-WHITE WINE
APOTHIC-WHITE is a wine stumbled upon by a local friend and fellow philosopher Orlando Trinidad. During the summer after a wonderful philosophy symposium we decided to break out the refreshments for our guests. I had my bottles to share of course, but the first to be opened was Apothic-White.
Sadly I must say that I am not a huge fan of wine blends especially when it comes to white wines. Also it was more chilled than I prefer for a white wine, however I thought I might as well try it. As I began to smell the wine there were a rich blend of flavors. There was citrus, oak, and a strong hint of vanilla.
When tasting the wine I felt like it was without a doubt one of the best white wine blends to ever be made. The flavor had oak, citrus, vanilla, and yet a wonderful berry taste. The grapes used were very sweet and juicy. The makers took great care to decide what grapes would be used in the process. It is not just one type of grape that overpowers the others. The makers were able to give the wine its own distinct flavor.
This wine can be used for just about any occasion and can be enjoyed by all wine drinkers. I usually prefer red, but this white wine is something I just cannot seem to be able to turn down. You will not be able to resist this wine. If you would like to pair it with something try it with clam linguini, fish, chicken, and white sauced pastas. It can also go well with certain deserts. yet please do not buy chilled instead only chill it for about 10 minutes over ice.
The value of this wine is about $10 which is an absolute steal. I value this wine anywhere between $15 to $18 because of its amazing quality. Please buy this wine while still at such an affordable price because one day other wine enthusiasts will catch on. Until then Please enjoy a glass of Apothic-White you will not regret it.
Thank You

VIVI PRIMITIVO SIGNIFICANTLY UNDERVALUED
VIVI PRIMITIVo is an Italian wine that I feel is being undervalued. As I was looking to purchase a wine in Little Italy there was a large selection to choose from. A fellow wine enthusiast saw a sign for a wine that was very cheap. It was valued at $11, however because of poor sales they undersold it for $8. At first I was not sure because when Italian wines are being sold cheap then one should question why? Was it very bad and no one wanted to purchase it or did it just not get enough attention?
As I looked around more I decided that it may be worth the risk to purchase. As it was opened I could smell the delicious flavors hitting me. While being poured into the glass the smells continued as it was oxidized. I do not particular like wine mixtures, however the wine makers did a wonderful job. The glass was heavy, there were a good amount of legs, and yet it was very fruity. It had small hints of berries and peaches. The barrels definitely contributed to the tastes as well.
My first words after finally tasting the wine was "this is significantly under priced". For $8 this wine was an absolute steal. It may be a mixture of different grapes, but those grapes are of good quality. If you see this wine for $8 I suggest you buy it immediately because it will not last forever. I believe the value in price should actually be anywhere between $12 to $15.
Use this wine for dinner parties, a small get together, and if you want with steaks, chicken, or pasta dishes. Even just cheese, meats, and crackers will go perfect with this wine. If you can buy a case of it I suggest you do so because it is definitely a wine to share with friends and family. You will enjoy this bottle of wine.

Cheap Red Wine
Yesterday after all of my philosophy classes were done I was invited to have some wine with friends. To listen to music and have some great discussion. Now that is just a wonderful time with good friends. However, out of all the bottles of wine one stood out the most.
A friend purchased a bottle called Cheap Red Wine from a store in Little Italy of the Bronx. It seemed very humorous at the time, and we thought at least they are being honest. The Logo literally says what to expect from the product.
As I opened the bottle I was very surprised I could not smell anything. There were no distinct smells or even alcohol content. Even when pouring the wine into a glass it was painfully obvious that this would not be a good experience. Yet it was even more surprising just how bad this wine was. One friend who had yet to taste the wine regretted it immediately once she did. She spit it up immediately as a reflex, and got it on the carpet.
Out of the five people only two persons finished the bottle. Some people will say after the first glass it is all the same, however this is not true at all. With every glass this wine continues to remind you just how bad it is. I am inclined to call it barely red covered public bathroom toilet water.
Another wine enthusiast Orlando Trinidad recommended that it be used for cooking meats. I looked at him because I would not use this wine to clean dog crap off of my shoes. What is also heartbreaking is for a brand called Cheap Red Wine it is truly not cheap at all because of its price range of $10.50. For that price one could get two mediocre wines, which are of better quality. Please do not buy this wine unless you are looking for comic relief or just to show to people. DO NOT DRINK

Petit Mayne d'Olivier Bordeaux 2009
As I was looking for a good wine to bring for a future dinner party I stumbled on a wine from my local Wine and Spirits establishments. I wanted something a little different to one day bring to a philosophy discussion, dinner party, or just to be a good host.
I decided to try this French wine from Bordeaux , which is generally a wonderful region for amazing wines. Some of the best wines in the world come from Bordeaux especially because of the hundreds of years to learn and cultivate the vine.
However, as a great as Bordeaux is with wine Mayne d'Olivier is not one of their greatest accomplishments. I will not say it is one of their worst, but it is not something I would ever drink again. Anyone who feels the need to buy it as a gift for a friend or serve it to others should really consider re-evaluating their life choices. Yes the bottle is only $8, but that is no excuse for a powerhouse region of amazing wines. Even the worst wines in that region should beat Yellowtail or GatoNegro every time.
The wine is 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet, but this mixture has truly destroyed the integrity of both grapes. Their tastes have been diluted to a point where the only thing recognizable is the alcohol. There are plenty of legs when testing for alcohol content, but that is just it. It is a tasteless wine that should have never been created.
My recommendation is this for the year of 2009 Mayne d'Olivier please do not purchase this wine. Even if it is extremely cheap or free it is not worth it and your pallet will thank you. If you are thinking of using it to make sangria do not. However, I will admit it does make a nice marinade for steaks on the grill. Yet only use a little bit so that the beef is not completely over powered.
I wish Mayne d'Olivier wines well and hope that in future years they produce better wines. Sometimes wine mixes can be great, but not for the year of 2009. Keep exploring the vines.
Thank You

Papi Wine
I remember years ago in the 2010 after moving back to New York City I was looking for a good wine to purchase. As a college student I was definitely on a budget. I have never felt the need to ever pay $300 for one bottle of wine. Especially since even a $25 bottle is a lot of money for a college student to spend on for one bottle. If one does do so I hope they are enjoying it with the very best of company.
Most Bronx natives only seemed to purchase wines like Moscato, Bear Foot, Sweet (Bitch), and Alize. Which in my opinion should not be classified as a wine, but that is a topic for another day. Yet these are the wines most persons seem to consume. Mostly because trying new wines is just not something people in the area do.
Yet I saw wine that was five dollars that came in three different varieties. A Merlot, Cab, and Pino Grigio all made by the Chilean company called Papi. I decided to try the Merlot and see if it was bearable. As I opened the wine my kitchen was instantly overpowered by a delicious smell. In the wine glass testing for legs the alcohol content was not heavily potent. Some cheap wines are over powered by just the smell and taste of the alcohol.
The smell can best be described as a sweet peach flavored wine. As if the grapes were grown near peach trees, and the flavor got into the vine. Yet it was not so over powered to the point where that was all that could be tasted. The flavor and perfection of the grape was intact. They did not take a bunch of random left over grapes to make the wine, but each was a product of the same grower.
When I think Merlot I usual come up with bitter, yet sweet, or equate it to dark chocolate taste some what. Yet not with Papi their Merlot is different because it is not bitter, sweet, and yet just overall enjoyable. Red or white it is one wine that can be eaten with whatever persons desires. If you want to have red with fish or white with a steak than this is the wine for you. Have it for dinner or at a social event it will definitely be enjoyable
This is one wine that will for $5 is well worth the money. There are those myself included who have paid more for just awful wines. Why do that to yourself if you would like a simple wine that will get good reviews at any event then this wine is for you. Lastly it also makes a wonderful sangria.
Until Next Time
Jonny Jones.

Purpose of this site
Hello fellow philosophers and wine lovers the purpose of this site is to bring people together.Whenever there is an academic event going on no matter where you are you can pretty much gurantee that wine will be apart of the event. Wine over the centuries has been a major part of cuisine, history, and life in general. It has been enjoyed by everyone from the very rich to the very poor. From Kings, Queens, Generals, the middle class, and especially peasants.
In this blog I will explore some of the very best and worst wines that the world has to offer. No continent or grape shall go untouched in this blog. We shall explore the tastes, food pairings, and when certain wines will be appropriate.Yes there are some wines that are good for serving at the dinner table, academic events, and then there are those that should only be shared with meaning or close relationships. This site hopes to give persons the best opinions of wines and potential pairings.
As well as give funny stories or how persons encountered certain wines. Why even the cheapest wines can out perform the very best at times. We will be honest when it comes to this blog as well. There is no such thing as an unbiased opinion when it comes to wine. Especially when even the best wine experts cannot tell when they are tasting a red or white blindfolded. We are for people with open mind and thoughts. Yet if you would like to debate with us then be our guest. We are philosophers so we enjoy a good argument.
